Sayre Land and Water Company

The Sayre Land Company was established in 1873 by the founding fathers of Sayre: Howard Elmer, Richard Fritcher, and Charles Anthony.

The purpose for the Sayre Land Company was to equip the hamlet with necessary items to develop and improve real estate. The Land Company would build the water supply system, buildings, fixtures, etcetera.

The Sayre Water Company would become incorporated in 1881. The idea behind the Water Company was to ensure the town and surrounding areas of adequate supply of water.

In 1885, the Sayre Land Company leased to the Sayre Water Company their reservoir, water works, and water pipes for $5,000 for the first year.
